What is the EU Settlement Scheme? |
The scheme has been created to process the applications of European Union (EU) citizens currently living in the UK in order to allow them to remain in the UK after Brexit. Anyone currently living in the UK (who is an EU citizen) will have to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme by 30 June 2021 in order to be allowed to stay in the country. Those applicants who apply and are successful will be given either settled or pre-settled status. This new status will also give rights to continue to access key services, such as health care and education, and public funds and eligible benefits. Any EU citizen who doesn't apply by this deadline will no longer be living in the country legally. |
