At Ridgewood Community High School, we have a strong and active Board of Governors. Our Governors meet regularly and have distinctive roles. They meet once a term as
a full governing body, and every term in subcommittees, these are:
• Finance
• Personnel
• Teaching & Learning
• Health & Safety

These committees report to the full Governing body with recommendations. Governors core strategic functions are:
• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
• Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
• Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure the school adheres to the financial policies

I have a specific interest in Art and its role in enabling  our students to express themselves.  I have a life long interest in all expressions of art, and drawing is a particular hobby of mine.

I retired from a prominent telecoms company several years ago. I worked as an IT project manager for 25 year on major international projects before moving onto a more political regional role across the North West.

Maths and IT

I enjoy the magic of numbers, and taught finance to other project managers.  I am passionate about the effective use of technology to assist and enhance learning and well being.  I see IT as an enabler and a bridge to learning when used appropriately.

I am married with 5 children one with disabilities who is a former RCHS pupil. I enjoy gardening, walking, reading, painting and drawing.

Background

 

Before I retired, I worked as a Social Worker for Lancashire County Council for over 35 years. The last 10 years of my employment were with the’ Children With Disabilities Team’.  Hence my interest and vocation for working with young people with additional needs.

Specific Interest

 

The wellbeing of the pupils, their families and their progress through the education system, to ensure each child meets their own potential.  The structure of school, and management of budget impacts on the outcome of all the pupils. Therefore, I am heavily involved with the finance and personnel committees.

I have worked in the northwest area since 2007  and have developed a lot of contacts local, regionally and nationally. I regularly work with multi-agency professionals in a range of contexts, all focused around Alternative provision and Special Educational Needs

I have a particular interest in students who have SEN but function at a reasonable level compared to their peers and how these learns are stretched with ambitious curricular teaching and experiences.

I have worked across all the various Key Stages and supported pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs in mainstream settings. I have experience of working with students with Autistic Spectrum Condition, physical and learning difficulties, Speech and Language difficulties and sensory impairment. I am a British Sign Language (BSL) user and support students to learn Sign language.

I have worked in Education for over 20 years as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant.

I am a parent of a former Ridgewood Student.  My experience in Special Educational Needs extends from the Nursey School setting through to Primary and Secondary School; including a two-year secondment at a local Sixth Form provision. I currently work in a local mainstream Secondary School in the SEN Department.

I have a specific interest in Special Educational Needs and how the Curriculum can be differentiated to enable all students to succeed to the best of their abilities.

Personal information

 

I am married with three grown up sons. I enjoy music, football, gardening, going to the gym and travel. My favourite pastime however, is spending time with the family - especially as I have recently become a grandparent!

I have worked at Ridgewood since it opened and previously worked at Calder View. A total of nearly 20 years.

I am employed at Ridgewood as Pupil Admin. Manager and deal with the annual review process for each pupil in school.

Specific Interest

 

The SEN process, and ensuring the system works for each pupil.  That their progression through school, ensures they all reach their own potential to move on to the next stage of their lives.

I have 3 children and family is extremely important to me.  I enjoy going to the theatre, reading and spending a much time as possible with my 2 grandchildren.

Specific Interest

 

I have enjoyed working with the pupils in Further Education; looking at skills of being independent and getting them ready for the future. I have an extra interest in special needs children and our school, as my daughter currently attends Ridgewood.

I am married with 2 children. I enjoy spending time with my family; going for walks and visiting interesting places. I am a keen cricketer, I coach the juniors at a local cricket club and I am a fan of Burnley Football Club.
